Job description

Burrow is seeking a Retail Sales and Operations Manager to join our Retail team. As Retail Sales and Operations Manager, you will manage four (and counting) retail stores, overseeing daily operations and leading our team of amazing salespeople to exceed ambitious growth and profitability goals. This person will report directly to our CEO. You will provide business acumen, problem-solving operations support, and sales coaching in collaboration with internal and external partners to ensure each store and related sales channels exceed their weekly sales targets.


Day-to-day Responsibilities


  • People Management – Lead and support Retail Sales Managers at each store by providing regular coaching, guidance on how to achieve sales and profitability targets; help Retail Sales Managers navigate challenging personnel issues
  • Retail Merchandising – Collaborate with Product Designers, Creative, Marketing, and Retail Sales Managers to properly merchandise each store with the right products, in the best layout, styled appropriately and in line with the Burrow brand
  • Trade – Collaborate with Marketing and Retail Sales Managers to maintain and grow relationships with trade partners; report weekly on Trade results; collaborate with Operations on fulfilling trade orders; plan and execute Trade events in Retail Stores
  • Partnerships – Maintain and grow relationships with Interior Design and Vacation Rental partners through relationship check-ins and creating marketing and training materials; report weekly on Partnership sales; collaborate with Operations on fulfilling Partnership orders
  • Staffing – Collaborate with HR and each Retail Sales Manager to ensure proper staffing; review and approve weekly staffing schedules
  • P&L Management – Create and manage to budgets for each Retail location with an eye on profitability
  • Product Training – Maintain / update existing product training guides and create new product training guides for retail employees
  • Sales Training – Collaborate with external sales coaches / consultants to create sales training guides and training schedules for each retail store
  • Reporting – Report weekly on traffic, conversion rate, sales, and other KPIs for each store
  • Process Improvement – Continually refine our internal processes for (a) staffing, (b) standard operating procedures, and (c) in-store merchandising changes driven by seasonality, state of product on the floor, and new product launches
  • Store Support – Help retail stores daily through troubleshooting, system compliance, transaction auditing and overall operations support & supply ordering
  • Real Estate Management – Act as liaison with landlords for each Retail location for operational needs and able to facilitate lease negotiations
  • Culture – Build a high-energy culture of fun and engagement focused on sales results and excellent customer experience
  • Brand – Ensure the execution and standards of the Burrow brand vision and mission

Job requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in Retail Operations, managing multiple stores
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and growing multiple retail stores
  • A subject-matter expert on Retail policies, processes, and systems
  • Ability to travel 25% or more
  • At least 3 days per week in a Retail store or at HQ (New York City)
  • Ability to work flexible days (e.g., some weekends for store visits)
  • Ability to manage store P&Ls and report regularly on progress against goals
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Bonus if you have sales coaching experience
  • Bonus if you have experience planning and executing retail events and community outreach

Pay range: $85k - $125k


The offered pay range is based on several factors, including, but not limited to, overall experience, relevant experience, education level, certifications, applicable skills and expertise, and location of the position.
